Queenslanders Cain Tickner and Nick Jackson have been named in the tall defenders group for October’s state screening.
The state draft screenings are held for one day in Melbourne, with players that have had at least two AFL clubs show interest in them eligible for the testing.
Tickner was a member of the AIS-AFL Academy Level Two squad that travelled to Europe this season, and showed good form after recovering from knee and ankle injuries.
The Noosa junior was originally touted as a key forward prospect, before being switched to defence this season, playing for the Lions reserves.
Jackson had an injury-marred season, after injuring his quad in Queensland’s match against the Calder Cannons.
The 17 year-old has shown good form for Aspley’s NEAFL reserves side in recent weeks, kicking five goals in the Hornets’ win over Mt Gravatt last weekend.
The invitation of Tickner and Jackson to the state screening follows the inclusion of Labrador’s Fraser Thurlow in the tall forwards group.
