The seven weeks away from their Colburn Avenue ground has been worth the wait for the Redland Bombers.
The Bombers returned with a vengeance last week by beating Broadbeach, but it was the pristine state of the surface at Victoria Point that was equally noticeable.
The outstanding work of the Redlands City Council, led by Councillor John Burns and Laurence Blacka in conjunction with AFL Queensland’s Chris Dalton, has transformed the playing surface.
An untimely weed growth caused the ground to be badly chopped up earlier in the season, requiring the Bombers to shift several games, but the regeneration has been a huge success.
The Bombers have also built a permanent structure to house the electronic scoreboard operator and cameramen/callers from the AFLQ Footy Show whenever they score the game of the round.
The Bombers are at home again tomorrow against Labrador and have big games against Mt Gravatt (August 6) and Southport (August 22).
