Bayview State School PE teacher Dave Beasley has been an advocate for AFL in schools for many years.
Dave has been running AFL interschool competitions since 2017 and through the Sporting Schools program he has been able to run extra curricular AFL programs focusing on having fun and encouraging students to exercise and develop skills for a healthy life.
He takes the time to get to know every student and does a fantastic job promoting the program.
In the short space of 2021, he has helped run the NAB AFL Auskick program and assist with participant behaviour and overall participation, run an after school sporting schools program for those who would like to continue AFL and the brand new AFL primary school Blitz program.
Dave has a rugby background but is always admitting that AFL is the best development sport for kids, as it ‘uses both sides of the body and is a 360 degree sport’.
