Field Umpire Jason Baldwin and Goal Umpire Brent Fewkes will celebrate their 150 senior game milestone together on Sunday.
The pair will officiate in the Esplen Oval clash between long-time rivals Morningside and Southport in Round 7 of the NEAFL competition, when Goal Umpire Rob Whitehead will post his 50th senior outing.
Umpiring officials are delighted to see Baldwin and Fewkes reach 150 as both continue to contribute significantly to umpiring ranks in the back end of their careers.
Baldwin is a Northern Territory product who moved to Queensland to further his career and won a spot on the AFL umpiring panel.
He was Queensland Umpire of the Year in 1999, 2001 and 2002, officiated in four grand finals in 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2004, and did Queensland’s interstate clash with Vic Metro in 1999.
He officiated in 19 senior AFL matches in 2002-03, and is now in his second year of a comeback to the whistle-blowing ranks after time out of the game.
Fewkes is a product of the Brisbane Junior ranks who began as a field umpire before switching to goals.
He umpired 11 senior AFL games from 2004-06 and stood in the QAFL Grand Final in 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008.
Note: Watch for an interview with Jason Baldwin in this week’s Footy Record that will be posted on the AFLQ website next week.
