Glasshouse v Maroochydore 2nd Semi Final
Glasshouse face Maroochydore in the 2nd Semi Final of the u18 Div 2 North Competition at 12.45pm, Lansborough Sports Club (Glasshouse).
After suffering a loss in round one Glasshouse have been impressive going on a 14 game winning streak which has netted them the Minor Premiership and earned them the favoritism to take out the flag.
Maroochydore have also had an impressive season with 10 wins and 5 losses (3 of those losses being at the hands of Glasshouse). These two teams have been the benchmark of the competition and will hope to face each other in two weeks time for the flag. They played each other last week with an undermanned Maroochydore team putting in a gallant effort but falling short by 10 goals.
If Maroochydore are to challenge Glasshouse they will need to stop influential Goalkicker Sonny Rene who is sitting on a half century so far for season 2012. Maroochydore will also need to prevent Alexander Robertson and Daniel Kelly from getting a lot of the football as they also cause a lot of damage on the scoreboard (between them having kicked 50 Goals ). Another player that if stopped will help Maroochydore win this game is ball magnet James Haydock who has been causing sides headaches all year.
Stopping Glasshouse key players is only half the job done for Maroochydore they need their key players to fire early. Jye Smith, Sam Wilson, Dillon Walker, and Nicholas Mills have all had outstanding seasons for Maroochydore but all 4 need to be at their best to topple Glasshouse this week. If one of these four can bag a number of goals it will go a long way in giving Maroochydore a chance of toppling the Minor Premiers.
Who will win only time will tell!
Nambour V Caboolture/Caloundra in Elimination Final
Nambour will challenge Caboolture/Caloundra for the right to advance to the preliminary Final at 3.00pm, Lansborough Sports Club (Glasshouse).
Only a small percentage has separated these two teams at the end of the season (3.85%) with both teams having won 7, lost 7 and had a wash out which ironically enough was against each other.
The tale of the tape saw Nambour strike the first blow in April when the 2 teams played each other going out eventual winners 72 points to 55 which was a good win considering they were the away team. The washout game prevented Caboolture/ Caloundra from getting any revenge in June but come July they were prepared and Caboolture Caloundra reversed the result to win 72 points to 58.
This game could go either way and there are some key contributors to look out for. Nambour have been serviced well all year by Liam Cecil and have enjoyed the accuracy provided by goal kicker Brayden Hughes, but the man to stop needs to be Alex Bateman who has had an outstanding season and will hope to continue his form this weekend.
Caboolture/Caloundra will hope that the League leading Goal kicker (57 Goals) Ryan Barbagallo has his kicking boots on as he will need to kick a bag to ensure that Caboolture/Caloundra advance to the Preliminary Final next weekend. If Ryan is to get lots of opportunities in front of goal he is hoping the likes of Darren Graham, Jakob Richardson, and Lochlan Mcbride will get plenty of possessions further up the ground.
This should be a great game with the result being a flip of the coin.
