The Vic Metro Senior Squad has been trimmed to 30 players with only two training sessions remaining before the big clash with AFL Queensland.
The match on Saturday June 7 at Burpengary will offer players a chance to don the Big V jumper under the guidance of an experienced coaching team led by Brian Royal.
Royal has spent almost two decades in the AFL system and will be supported by assistant coaches – Sean Millane (assistant coach last year), Jason Heatley (NFL interleague coach), Brett Jacobs (WRFL Interleague coach) in the clash against Queensland.
Despite most players only meeting each other for the first time only weeks ago, Royal said he was extremely pleased with the way his side was coming together.
“We deliberately kept our first session together really lighthearted with a strong focus on ensuring the guys became more familiar with one another.”
“At our second session we started to introduce a bit of game plan and with training on Tuesday and Thursday night this week we expect to be a really prepared before we fly out Saturday morning.”
The squad will be trimmed to 24 players for the trip north with the list certain to contain some serious firepower.
