NAB AFL Auskick continues to kick goals for the region with continued high number of participants in the Central Highlands centres and fantastic numbers at several new centres, including St Benedict’s in Yeppoon with 45 participants.
We continued to strengthen our relationship with the NAB via their sponsorship of the end of season barbecue for our Auskick participants.
In rep footy our Under 18’s had good wins over Wide Bay and Darling Downs in February and we had six lads represent the region in the Country Kookaburras.
Our Women’s team continued its dominance over Mackay, running out winners by 100-points. Our Men’s team defeated Wide Bay for the 9th year in a row and went down to Mackay by under two kicks for the second year in a row.
We hosted the Under 16 Country Championships at the Rockhampton Cricket Ground which was a huge success.
The stars of the local league were undoubtedly the Under 15 Gladstone Mudcrabs who went through the season undefeated.
The women’s league extended its season to 15 rounds and the senior league also had a great year with registrations at an all-time high.
Our Keep it Clean award has once again rewarded the clubs for good behaviour on the field and off.
School programs also thrived in 2012 with a record eight high school teams competing in our Rockhampton competition. St Brendan’s in Yeppoon were the competition winners.
School clinic numbers improved on last year’s figures which we hope will convert to more transition from school participants to club participants.
