O’MEARA NAMED NAB RISING STAR
Gold Coast’s Jaeger O’Meara capped off an outstanding debut season by winning this year’s NAB AFL Rising Star Award from Adelaide’s Brad Crouch, with Port Adelaide’s Oliver
Wines finishing third.
O’Meara polled 44 of a possible 45 votes to win by 13 votes. He was the strong favourite after a stellar debut season when he played all 22 of
the SUNS’ games and averaged 21.6 disposals and kicked 16 goals.
ZAC SMITH WINNER OF JIM STYNES COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP AWARD
Gold Coast SUNS ruckman Zac Smith was awarded the Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award established by the AFL and The Reach Foundation in honour of the former Melbourne Football Club president and champion player.
This annual award commemorates Jim Stynes’ tireless service and leadership across the community and is bestowed annually to the AFL player who demonstrates the values of Jim Stynes in his commitment to helping others.
