• All regions completed Summer Programs for between 20 and 35 Academy members. Most regions employed a combination of four Football or Strength and Conditioning staff. They then continued with Individual Development throughout the year
• The inclusion of three North Queensland Camps around AFL/NEAFL events added strength to the programs
• With the introduction of two North Queensland Teams at the U14 State Championships at Burpengary this greatly increased the talent pool and gave opportunities to more young future stars
DRAFT TABLE
Andrew Boston a 2012 graduate who won his way onto the SUNS Rookie list for two years has been elevated to the Senior List at the end of 2014 season. This is a great acknowledgment for Andrew and how hard he has worked to realise his dream. He worked through the levels in the Academy and was a very accomplished junior within Queensland.
Jarred Ellis continues the trend of Academy members being added to the SUNS Rookie list, and he showed glimpses of what he is capable of throughout his 18th year.
NEW INITIATIVES/ACTIVITIES
• Introduction of new Academy High Performance Squad
• Once again staff from the Gold Coast SUNS Talent Academy program played important roles in the Queensland High Performance program including U18 Forward Line Coach, U18 Development Coach and U16 Defensive Line Coach.
• The Coach pathway continued to develop with an Academy Coach assisting in the SUNS NEAFL for 2014
• Gold Coast SUNS/Brisbane Lions Academy High Performance camp on the Sunshine Coast
• Draft Day Combine- SUNS Academy Talent Search for Future Stars and Rookies- 120 participants
• SUNS Academy Coaches participating in AFL Schools of Excellence Programs
