When NT’s Chris Dunne booted the opening goal 40 seconds in, the NEAFL looked on track for a winning day, but it wasn’t to be at Blundstone Arena.
By the time Redland’s Phil Carse slotted the match’s last goal on the full-time siren, Tasmania had taken hold of the match, winning 118.12 (120) – 11.13 (79).
Carse was the NEAFL’s best player on the day, with 27 touches and two goals, in a standout display.
Despite kicking the opening goals in three of the quarters, the NEAFL could not carry their momentum through any.

NEAFL V TASMANIA
A 2.5 return in the first quarter didn’t help the visitors, seeing them trail by 20 points at that first change, despite having the same number of scoring shots.
Kade Klemke worked hard in the NEAFL backline, while Adrian Williams kept a close hold on Tasmanian spearhead, Aaron Cornelius (three goals) all afternoon.
Captain Cam Ilett was prolific in the opening half, with 11 touches, but his influence was quelled in the latter half.
