• Former AFL listed boundary umpire Cameron Ward made a return to AFL ranks
• Former state league footballer Kayne Nund was elevated to the AFL Rookie list after only threeseasons of umpiring
• AFL listed boundary umpire Aaron Deckys was selected for the Qualifying Final between Sydney and Fremantle.
• Brett Kronk, Gareth Hughes and Alistair Meldrum were awarded the inaugural NEAFL Queensland Umpire of the Year awards for field, boundary and goal respectively while Ryan Downs was named QAFL Umpire of the Year.
COMMUNITY UMPIRING
• The umpire pathway saw 14 community umpires (field, boundary, goals) appointed to QAFL senior games throughout the season to complement the existing panel
• All Grand Final field umpires were provided
a run-sheet detailing correct, missed, and unwarranted free kicks. This was calculated in an error rate percentage, the same format AFL umpires receive
• Umpires were appointed to localised venues. The reduced amount of travel was seen as a positive among the group
• Umpire stats increased by 45 %. The NEAFL/ QAFL and community numbers :
• 2013 - 198
• 2014 - 289
• Stats are umpires who umpired 4 or more games in the season
• In 2014, 77 were 1st year umpires.
