TOWNSVILLE AND SUNS SHINE AT NAB CHALLENGE
Footy Fever hit Townsville’s Tony Ireland Stadium a day ahead of the Sunday scheduled NAB Challenge clash between the Gold Coast SUNS and the Geelong Cats.
Super Saturday unleashed an avalanche of family activities including face painting, a balloon a ist, AFL demonstrations and a Geelong open training and autograph session.
The NAB Challenge ticket o ice, canteen and club merchandise stalls were open for business and kids had the oppo unity to sign up with local Junior Clubs at the Super Sign-on.
Hot FM kept the tunes pumping with a special Super Saturday outside broadcast.
On Sunday, over 5,100 fans turned out to see the SUNS edge out
Geelong by eight points in a thrilling encounter.
Missing half of their best team, the Suns held o  a second-half comeback by the Cats, winning 0.10.19 (79) to 1.9.8 (71).
Townsville product Josh Hall whipped spectators into a frenzy, kicking the go-ahead goal late in the fou h qua er to give Eade a victory in his first match in charge.
Minutes later, small forward Brandon Matera kicked a freakish goal o  his le  foot to put the match beyond doubt.
Matera soccered the ball from a near impossible angle deep in the le  forward pocket to split the sticks to again have the crowd on its feet.
