Despite wafts of Angel perfume eminating from the Queensland dressing room, they weren’t taking their match up with defending champions Victoria lightly.
Up against it early, Victoria dominated the first quarter with good leads and hard contested football inside their fifty.
Queensland defensive pressure kept them in the game at quarter time with Victoria kicking 2 goals and 6 points.
Queensland started the scoring off in the second quarter with a free kick to Anna O’Keeffe but this was to be the last time they saw the ball in the 15 minutes.
Victoria responded quickly with some great running play and strong position in the forward line with 3 quick goals.
Emily Smith found good space and kicked strongly for Victoria with them leading 6.7.43 to 1.0.6 at the halftime break.
The third quarter started like the first with Sarah Perkins kicking a tight angled goal for Victoria from the pocket 30m out.
Victoria again dominated the quarter with some accurate kicking and good support play to have Victoria leading 9.8.62 to Queensland’s one goal at three quarter time.
A deflated Queensland tried hard in the fourth quarter to keep up with Victoria but lacked discipline and were caught behind too often to be able to stem Victoria’s flow of goals.
Despite some good play by Queensland late in the last quarter, Victoria kept Queensland to just the one goal and came out winners with 11.10.76.
Rachel Withoos (pictured) was among the best for the Queenslanders.
So, Victoria advance to the 2.30pm Grand Final on Saturday against either WA or SA.
