Dayne Zorko booted 12 goals at Merrimac Oval today to lead the Cats to victory over the Western Magpies.

State rover Dayne Zorko produced one of the best individual performances of the season to boot 12 goals in his side’s 44-point win over the Western Magpies at Merrimac Oval today.
Zorko proved unstoppable as the Cats won 20.12 (132) to 13.10 (88) to jump back into fifth place on the premiership table.
They led by 61 points at the last change and were hoping for a big percentage-booster, but the Magpies showed plenty of pluck to boot five goals to two in the last term.
The Cats running players did all the damage, with Ryan Pantic rampant in the midfield, Zorko bobbing up everywhere forward, Matt Fife collecting possessions at will, and Jesse Derrick and Adam McKenzie also sweeping downfield in waves.
The Cats booted six goals in each of the opening three quarters and were too slick with their use of the ball.
James Rozynski tried hard to stem the flow for the Magpies, while the experienced duo of Ed McDonnell and Mark Dowley were also prominent.
It was a fitting way for utility Ben Walters to celebrate his 150-game milestone.
