Broadbeach rover-forward Dayne Zorko’s 12-goal haul against the Western Magpies last weekend was not enough to jump into the top 10 on the QAFL goalkicking list.
Zorko kicked a solitary goal in each of his first seven games of the season – missing out in Round 2 when he was suspended – before bagging three at Redland in Round 9 and the dozen last weekend.
His 22 goals suddenly places him three ahead of veteran Korey Fulton, who is looking to head the Cats’ goalkicking for the 11th time.
Southport sharpshooter Cleve Hughes edged to a six-goal lead in the race for the Ray Hughson Medal with his sixth consecutive haul of four goals or more on Saturday at Giffin Park.
Hughes will be hoping to pass the half century of goals for the season when he lines up against the winless Western Magpies at Chelmer on Saturday.
NT Thunder sharpshooter Darren Ewing remains in second place, having managed just five goals in his last three matches.
He has hauls of 4-6-8-0 in Darwin this season and will look forward to meeting Aspley at TIO Stadium on Saturday night.
