AFL Queensland has today announced the fixture for the upcoming Alpha Sport Pre-Season Cup, which kicks off Saturday March 10 at football grounds across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.
The Alpha Sport Pre-Season Cup is a three-week knockout tournament involving QFA clubs allotted across three pools, culminating in the Grand Finals which are to be played at Leyshon Park, Yeronga on March 24.
Each Grand Final winner will receive an Alpha Sport Sports Taping Starter Pack, valued at $1250.
After claiming the Alpha Sport Pre-Season Community Cup in 2017, with a 143-26 victory over Springwood, Maroochydore Roos AFC President Matt Bury lauded the involvement of Alpha Sport in the preseason competition.
“Maroochydore, like all footy clubs, has reduced income at the start of the year, so winning the Alpha Sport taping pack made a big difference,” he said.
“The kit was over $1000 of strapping and equipment for the club. Anytime a club can reduce costs makes a difference.
Bury also praised the benefit the competition provided for the players in the lead up to another season.
“The competition also helps the players get runs under their belt. The preseason cup gives the younger guys a good bedding of what the competition is going to be like,” Bury added.
