P. 61
We put an emphasis on growing our Southern region base, with the appointment of Stan Coombe as the Central Australia Talent Coordinator. This helped to increase the number of contracted players from Central Australia to 14, and also saw a rise in the number of players at training.
Off the field, we welcomed a new coach in Daniel Archer and a new CEO in Jarred Ilett before the season started, introducing a new Chairman when Lincoln Jenkin replaced Paul Tyrrell mid way through the year.
Our membership grew to over 1,500. With the growing number
of regional supporters unable to attend our games, many of these tuned into our new YouTube page, which streamed our Thunder Vision broadcast for each of our games. For the first time, this vision could not only be watched live, but once downloaded, could be watched at a later date.
2012 also saw the introduction of The Boot ‘Game Day’, which was a half hour production dedicated to Thunder’s previous week’s game – with plenty of highlights and interviews from key players and staff members.
We held a number of marquee functions throughout the year, including the Chairman’s Luncheon before the Sydney Swans game in Darwin, the Chairman’s Breakfast before our historic first game in Palmerston and the Lasseter’s Casino Ladies Night which was held after the Brisbane Lions game in Alice Springs.
The Club Champion Presentation Night was again a marquee event on the Northern Territory calendar, with 240 guests including delegates such as the Chief and the former Chief Ministers.
