In their debut season, the University of Queensland Red Lions faced some challenging matches, eventually ending up with four wins.
The former Division Two heavyweights pushed plenty of the top sides, but small lapses saw their opponents get the better of them a few too many times.
Competition powerhouses, Noosa, had a difficult season in the Allied Pickfords Cup, in a regeneration year.
Under veteran coach, Wayne Fletcher, the Tigers won two matches for the season, blooding numerous inexperienced players throughout the season.
Burleigh struggled through 2013 for consistency, finishing winless for the season.
The Bombers were competitive in patches, but couldn’t string enough of those together to claim a win.
Wingman Hugh Priest showed some potential through the season, in a breakout year.
In the year’s major awards, Palm Beach’s Zane Murphy won the Duncanson Todd Medal as the league’s best and fairest player, while Grange’s Steve Brittain won the Bill Ryan Trophy as League MVP.
Springwood’s King was named the Coach of the Year and Maroochydore’s Craig Scrase was recognised as the Volunteer of the Year.
