The Maroons finished their carnival on a high, with a 54-point win over the NT. Eric Hipwood booted four goals in the final match of the championships, while Scheer stepped up in the second half to help Queensland take control, after the Territorians mounted a late comeback.
Palm Beach’s Brad Scheer was rewarded for an outstanding carnival, winning the Alan McLean Medal as the best player in Division Two. Scheer, Curtis Marsden, Jacob Allison and Jack Bowes were all included in the AFL Academy Level 1 squad, announced after the championships.

Queensland’s U16 team had a successful 2014 carnival, with a number of standout players.
TASMANIA
Queensland burst out of the blocks, with an 83-point win over Tasmania. Caloundra’s Eric Hipwood finished with four goals in the win, while Morningside’s Jack Rolls and Palm Beach’s Brad Scheer were standouts in the midfield.
NSW/ACT
Queensland narrowly missed out on making it two from two, with a nine-point loss to NSW/ACT. Trailing by 11 points at the final change, Queensland had the wind at their backs in the last quarter, but too many turnovers on the back of inaccurate long bombs cost them chances to snatch the lead. Palm Beach’s Curtis Marsden showed some explosive speed on the wing, while key defender Jacob Allison was impressive.
