Unlike some other measures, participation in football is only counted when a person participates in a football program of six weeks or more. This provides a rigourous assessment of a participant that is engaged in our game. Football has measured participation this way for more than 20 years, which allows the sport to monitor and track consistent data. Data presented is from the 2013 census.
