AFL FACILITIES DEVELOPMENT RESERVE
There is no doubt that the AFL Facilities Development Reserve has had a significant and positive impact on the football facilities landscape across Queensland and the NSW Northern Rivers. SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP – KAWANA EAGLES
Kawana Eagles received a $45,000 Facilities Development Reserve grant towards a total project cost
of $462,000 to build a clubhouse with player and umpire amenities, a canteen, a meeting room and storage at their oval based on Kawana State College. The clubhouse is used
for both football club and school programs, and complements an earlier oval lighting project to create a quality junior club facility imbedded in a school environment.
sustainability of our grassroots football facilities so that we can better service our existing and future participants.
AFL Queensland will spearhead our response to this challenge, but
we will require continued support from our partners in government,
the private sector and across the hundreds of affiliated community clubs to achieve real improvements at each community oval. As well as investment through the AFL Facilities
Development Reserve, governments at all levels have continued to invest in football facilities and this has been complemented by fundraising activities at club level and support by sponsors and other third-parties. Most major facilities upgrades have been achieved using a combination of these funding sources and could not have been achieved without funding stakeholder collaboration.
FACILITIES DEVELOPMENT GRANT – WARWICK REDBACKS
Warwick Redbacks received a Facilities Development Reserve grant of $50,000 towards a $510,000
project to build a clubhouse with player and umpire amenities, a canteen/bar and public toilets at their oval 9 alongside the picturesque Condamine River. The facility was elevated above Q100 level to enhance its
flood resilience and has become a major asset for the local AFL community, who previously erected tents
for game day operations.
