QUEENSLAND » EMMA ZIELKE
Emma Zielke began playing Australian Rules when she was 19 having
decided she needed a change from soccer.
Zeilke began her career at Morningside football club, being named captain in 2012, and moved to Coorparoo in 2013 where she was
again named captain.
She has twice been selected to play in the annual women’s game played between the Melbourne Demons and Western Bulldogs.
In 2014 she was drafted 7th for the Demons and in 2015 she played for the Bulldogs.
Zeilke has won two premierships, her first in 2013 with Coorparoo, and was named QWAFL best and
fairest in 2014.
Having represented her state twice, in 2011 and 2014, Zeilke says the best thing about footy is
the happiness that it brings.
“It genuinely makes me happy. The team culture, mateship, fitness and the sport in
general. The atmosphere is like no other,” she said.
The 168cm forward and midfielder said her personal mantra was, “team success is better than
any individual award,” and, “never be content with your achievements, there is always something you can do better.”
