NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Queensland became the 2015 NAB AFL Under 18 Division Two champions a er going three-from-three in the carnival.
It all sta ed with a comprehensive 72-point victory over No hern Territory at Southpo . Queensland put the foot down in the second qua er, with NT unable to hang on. Queensland was led beautifully by captain Ben Keays, who finished with 37 possessions and a goal for the day.
Tasmania was next on the radar for Queensland, as they travelled down to Geelong for their second and third games.
It was a tight tussle early, but when someone needed to stand up and break the game open, Eric Hipwood entered. He kicked four goals in the second qua er, pu ing a bu er between the two teams that was never closed, with Queensland eventual 39-point winners.
That meant equation in the final game of the championships against NSW/ACT was pre y simple. Win, and take home the cup.
Queensland jumped out of the blocks be er, and were able to restrict NSW/ACT to just two first half goals, and zero in the second half, before running out 38-point winners, handing Queensland their first title since 2006
Ben Keays was awarded the Harrison Meal, as the Division 2 MVP, while he, Eric Hipwood and Jacob Allison all made the All-Australian Team, joined by Adrian Fletcher who was named Assistant Coach.
