NAB AFL AUSKICK
EMERGING MARKETS FUEL ANOTHER STRONG YEAR
Another great year for NAB AFL Auskick saw a total of 25,246 NAB Queensland participants. The program continues to grow nationally with a record 182,846 participants - an increase of over 9% from 2011.
Queensland holds one of the highest female participation percentages in the country and in 2012 6,300 females participated in centres state-wide.
Queensland Auskick staff continued to explore emerging markets across the state with considerable growth in:
• Female centres
• Indigenous centres
• Multicultural centres
• Disadvantaged centres
The growth in these areas highlights the inclusive nature of the AFL Auskick program.
NAB has continued its tremendous support of the Auskick program through 2012 and one of its major competitions, the NAB AFL Auskicker of the Year has produced some very exciting results for a few lucky Queenslanders.
Nominees Taj Beaton, Jaden Willis and Christian Dowling got the opportunity to attend the Toyota AFL Grand Final and present premiership medallions to Sydney Swans players.
NAB’s support of the AFL Auskick program was also highlighted through its involvement in a number of events across Queensland, including the Mackay AFL Auskick Super Clinic and the Sunshine Coast AFL Auskick Gala Day. We are looking to hold these two events annually and 2013 should see the introduction of similar events in other regions.
Newly appointed NAB AFL Auskick Ambassador Shane Crawford visited Brisbane in August where he joined in on an Auskick session at John Paul College and was guest speaker at the Queensland NAB AFL Auskick Coordinator ‘thank you’ function at the Gabba.
The AFL Auskick program continued its great relationship with the Brisbane Lions, Gold Coast SUNS the Gabba and Metricon Stadium with many participants given the opportunity to play at half-time during an AFL match.
This is always a highlight for our Auskickers and perhaps a few of them will find themselves running around for the Brisbane Lions, Gold Coast SUNS or Queensland State Women’s team in years to come.
