CADBURY LEGENDARY EXPERIENCE PROMOTION
Ex Brisbane Lions/Bears players Robbie Copeland and Craig Starcevich were the star attractions of the Cadbury AFL 9s Round 23 match at the Gabba.
The duo was joined by six lucky teams who won the chance to play at half-time of the Brisbane Lions vs. Western Bulldogs match via the Cadbury Legendary Experience promotion.
The teams - from Brisbane, Gatton, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast – scored their Gabba berth by submitting the most creative Cadbury AFL 9s team photos.
BEACH FOOTY AT MOOLOOLABA
The AFL 9s program took to Mooloolaba beach during the September holidays to promote the local competition.
The Sunshine Coast put on perfect weather for the event and the staff put on a great display - even inviting a number of holidaying families to take part in the exhibition game.
With around 50 participants and 250 onlookers, the event was a great success.
MULTICULTURAL AFL 9S PROGRAMS
AFL Queensland and Education First welcomed a new batch of international students to Brisbane in 2012.
Education First hosts students from around the world and aims to give students the chance to immerse themselves in Australian culture.
The students were run through a quick education session - where they learnt the history of AFL - before playing AFL 9s in Musgrave Park.
The group completed 6 weeks of AFL 9s matches, ensuring they have a host of new skills to return home with.
AASC LAUNCH
Federal Sports Minister Kate Lundy joined Brisbane Lions players Jed Adcock, Josh Drummond and primary school students at the Gabba to launch a partnership between the Australian Government and the AFL.
The venture will see AFL 9s introduced nationally to Australian schools and childcare centres via the Australian Sports Commission’s Active After-School Communities program.
It represents the first time that the AFL has had a formal partnership with the AASC program.
