Queensland had another great year on, and o , the school footy field with more pa icipants than ever playing our game.
PARTICIPATION
G Over 123,000 Queensland and NSW No hern Rivers school students pa icipated in AFL school based programs this year.
G Key focus for sta  was rolling out the new Australian Spo s Commission’s Spo ing Schools initiative which
saw over 2,200 students pa icipate in the new Learn AFL or Experience AFL programs.
Strong growth was recorded across school competitions with a total of 35,895 pa icipants, a mammoth 79 per cent growth on last year.
COMPETITIONS
G The Brisbane Lions Cup and Gold Coast Suns Cup competitions were again the highlight of interschool calendar with the following schools victorious:
G Brisbane Lions Cup Primary Boys Champions: Banksia Beach State School
G Brisbane Lions Cup Primary Girls Champions: St Thomas More Primary School, Sunshine Coast
G Brisbane Lions Cup U14 Boys Champions: Sunshine Coast Grammar School
G Gold Coast Suns Cup Primary Boys Champions: Whi ield State School
G Gold Coast Suns Cup Primary Girls Champions: St Ca hage’s Primary School
G Gold Coast Suns Cup U14 Boys Champions: St Augustine’s College Cairns.

The Queensland Independent Schools Cup kicked up a gear this year with inclusion of AIC Schools Padua College and St Laurence’s College and GPS School Brisbane State High. The eight week competition culminated in three spectacular grand finals with the follows schools taking out the premierships:
G Open Boys Premiers: Padua College
G Year 9/10 Boys: St Laurence’s College
G Year 7/8 Boys: Brisbane State High School
