SCHOOLS OF EXCELLENCE
G The AFL Queensland Schools of Excellence Program continued to grow in strength and status with the inclusion of a Senior Female Division into this year’s competition. Mountain Creek State High were the team to beat early on in the season and took out the inaugural Senior Female Championship.
G 2014 junior champions Helensvale State High School only just hung on in the grand final with Narangba Valley State High finishing the season strong.
G Palm Beach Currumbin State High proved too strong again this year taking out the Senior Male Championship.
G We are very excited to announce the inclusion of a Junior Female Division into the competition for next year – the first time that
the Schools of Excellence competition will have equitable pa icipation pathways for both males and females.
SCHOOL AMBASSADORS
G 530 School Ambassadors – our key teachers – guided their schools through AFL programs and competitions across Queensland and No hern Rivers.
G Allen Eade from Palmwoods State School and Ross Clayfield from Kedron State High won the Queensland Primary and Secondary Ambassador of the Year awards respectively.
G 2015 also saw the introduction of two new awards as pa  of our Ambasador of the Year function:
G School Ambassador Service to Football
Award: Neil Mackay, Palm Beach Currumbin State High School
G School Ambassador Contribution to Female Pa icipation Award: Michael Winmill, St Thomas More Primary School
NEW INITIATIVE – AFL QUEENSLAND SCHOOLS CUP
October saw the announcement of the new 2016 AFL Queensland Schools Cup, Queensland’s premier state wide schools’ competition. The AFLQSCup
is an interschool competition which encourages team work and positive spo smanship in a fun environment. For those who love a challenge, the glory of being crowned the AFLQSCup state champions is also up for grabs! Schools are invited to nominate across six competitive divisions:
G Primary Males, Years 4-6
G Primary Females, Years 4-6 G Junior Males, Years 7-9
G Junior Females, Years 7-9 G Senior Males, Years 10-12
G Senior Females, Years 10-12
