SEASON SNAPSHOT
The 2012 season saw a number of changes at the Vultures. The club said goodbye to long-time coach David Lake and elevated former assistant coach Andrew Mellor to the top job. Highly respected club captain Josh Vearing announced his retirement after a stellar career.
The season held many twists and turns with the young and inexperienced list competitive in many games without taking the points.
Five wins and 13 losses for the season with an overall 8th position finish means the Vultures have plenty of hard work to do over the pre-season.
Gavin Grose had another outstanding year for the club, playing brilliantly in multiple positions to claim the clubs best and fairest award. Andrew and Luke Scott were also consistent performers for the club.
The emergence of some talented Mt Gravatt juniors and Clay Cameron’s draft selection by the Gold Coast SUNS were also highlights of 2012.
The club played in the Foxtel Cup competition for the first time against the Hills Eagles at the SCG in Round 1, claiming victory in a memorable match.
The second round loss to WAFL powerhouse Claremont at Metricon stadium may have ended their Foxtel cup campaign, but it was a great experience for the team.
