HIGHLIGHTS
✏ This professionalism was further bolstered by the appointment of Tony Hunter as the inaugural Junior Umpire Coach. More than 25 Gold Coast SUNS players visited the Byron Regional Sport and Cultural Complex for a Community Sign-On Day, the first event held at the venue, attended by more than 300 fans. The venue
was also home to the very first AFL 9s competition in the region.
✏ AFL Northern Rivers Juniors hosted its Inaugural ‘Women in Football’ Luncheon in 2013, attracting some of Byron Bay’s most influential women and members of the community.

U14 Ballina defeated Byron, 12.6 (78) to 6.18 (54)
SEQAFL DIVISION FOUR SOUTH Tweed Coast Tigers 9.5 (59) defeated Byron Magpies 6.6 (42). The Tigers’ Ashley Gemell was awarded the best on ground medal.
✏ Grand Final Day at Oakes Oval, Lismore, was a day full of highlights. Almost 1,000 spectators witnessed a level of football that was truly entertaining.
✏ The success of the NAB AFL Auskick program continued to be prominent with 1,170 Auskickers taking part in the program.
✏ In 2013, club participation was at an all- time high, increasing by almost 15% on last year and exceeding 700 players in total across the region for the first time.
✏ The quality and professionalism of the AFL Northern Rivers Junior Competition was led by an outstanding board, appointing a paid administrator for the first time.
✏ Establishment of a new AFLQ regional office and training facility at the Byron Regional Sports and Cultural Complex, a $17 million multipurpose facility in Byron
