MT GRAVATT
Despite fielding a relatively young side, the Vultures proved they were no easy beats, finishing jut a kick away from a preliminary final in 2014. The former NEAFL side ground teams down all season, behind superb seasons from captain, Joe Murphy and experienced midfielder, Will Hamill. Their young brigade proved their potential as well, with players including Todd Carbone and Jonah Licht stepping up in the absence of a great deal of experienced players.
BROADBEACH
Broadbeach were the biggest surprise of the
QAFL competition. The Cats kept themselves in top three contention for most of the year and snatched upset victories over some more fancied opponents. Wet weather proved their Achilles heel but in the dry, Broadbeach displayed some eye catching football.
SURFERS PARADISE
Surfers Paradise had a mixed season but managed to claim some milestones along the way. The Demons notched their first win at Chelmer in 2014 and stayed well in the calculations for top five for much of the year. The injection of NEAFL-listed players boosted them in the middle of the year, with players like Ben Merrett adding firepower in their forward line.
WILSTON GRANGE
The Gorillas were in a similar spot to the Demons, with inconsistency costing them in their first year in the QAFL. Player-coach, Matt Trewhelle, was impressive for them as was captain Steve Brittain, who proved crucial despite missing a handful of games through the year.
